We miss you! It has only been a few days, but it seems like forever!! The Christian Life staff are praying for wisdom and creativity. We have been asking the Lord to show us effective ways to minister to you and our community.
Thank you to those of you that joined us last Sunday. We loved seeing your faces at the prayer time. We will follow a similar format for our Sunday Celebration Service this coming week, but with God’s help and direction, we will improve the presentation as much as we can. We are going to have the virtual prayer time again at 10:15 AM. We are preparing a prayer list and people to pray over each topic in advance this time. Anyone may pray on the current topic after the designated prayer warrior finishes their prayer! Please join us. Above all else, we need to pray together and for each other.
Following our prayer time, Pastor Jane will have a worship set for you to worship with, and Pastor Joe will have a prerecorded message that will be available as well.
We will not be having any face to face services Sunday, March 29 or Wednesday, March 25 or April 1.
Additionally, Carrie Gordon is planning a food outreach at the Warm Spring Estates and Woodburn Estates trailer parks on Warm Spring Road. If you would like to help pass out food or are in need of a food basket, please contact the church.
We would also like to reach out to some of our health care workers on the front lines. We want to bring them meals from local restaurants. If you would like to help bless our health care workers, please visit our website and click on the Donate Now button and select the health care workers option or drop off a donation to the church office.
Thank you for being the body of Christ at this time!! We love how so many of you are finding ways to reach out and encourage others during this challenging time. Our daily devotions began today. You can access them daily at this link: https://clcburg.church/clc-daily The will come out each day at 7 AM. We encourage you to read through these as a family and to comment on them to interact with the body.
Please continue to share these updates with as many people as you can.
Pastor Joe also invites you to visit http://thereturnwebsite.org/ and watch the video. We will be making plans to participate in this event.
We are looking forward to our live prayer meeting on Sunday. More on that coming soon.
Update - March 17, 2020
The church staff and board have been carefully monitoring the recent news releases, orders, and recommendations from the various government agencies. As always, we are trusting in God and His Power during this time. As the Bible says:
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Current Plan
Christian Life and all of its ministries will not be meeting in person for the remainder of March. This includes Sundays and Wednesdays. During this time, Pastor Joe, CL Kids and CL Youth will be posting messages and helpful content online for you and your family.
In this challenging time it is very important that we stay connected to God and God’s people.
On Sunday mornings, we will post Pastor Joe’s message and have a virtual prayer time together at 10:15 AM. More information on that will be coming in the upcoming days.
During the week we will be posting and sending out a daily devotion that you and your family can use to stay connected with God and His Peace. Click here for the devotions page.
Due to the fluid nature of this situation, we are going to revisit our plans on a regular basis. We will provide you with updates on our website and via email and social media as needed.
Please help us to share this information with others, particularly with those who do not have email or might not be comfortable with getting information online.
Update - March 14, 2020
With all the recent events and updates occurring in the news and the fear and panic gripping the nation, we continue to carefully monitor information from the Federal, Pennsylvania and Franklin County governments.
We are holding to this truth - Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” God is in control!
In times of crisis and difficulty, the world has looked to the church to help provide leadership and a comforting voice. We do not walk or live by fear, but put our full trust and hope in God.
We are also committed to making thoughtful, wise decisions and keeping you informed. The big question on everyone’s mind is if we plan to hold our on-site services this Sunday, as well as the status of upcoming mid-week activities.
Current Plan
We will be holding services as usual on Sunday, but with the following modifications. Our Hospitality Team will continue to be as friendly as ever, but we will greet attendees with a wave and warm hello rather than a hand shake.
There will be CL Kids, CL Youth and Life Groups (at the leaders’ discretion.)
We will not be having our spaghetti dinner after the service this week. It will be postponed to a later date.
Please be reminded if you do have any cold or flu-like symptoms, please stay home. Click here to submit a prayer request so the prayer team can pray for God’s healing.
As always, we will be streaming live at 9:00 AM with Pre-Service Prayer and 10:15 AM with our Celebration Service on Sunday. Please let your family, friends, coworkers and neighbors know and perhaps consider inviting them to watch with you if you join us from home. We need each other now more than ever and want to provide people with a message of hope.
You can join us online at our YouTube channel by clicking here. You can share this link with your family and friends. http://bit.ly/clcburglive
You will be able to interact with other online viewers, as well as with members of our Prayer Team. And we are exploring additional ways for us to engage together online throughout the week.
Regarding other campus activities, we have made the decision to cancel all on-site activities on Wednesday March 18 & 25.
Due to the fluid nature of this situation, we are going to revisit our plans on a regular basis. We will provide you with updates on our website and via email and social media as needed.
Please help us to share this information with others, particularly with those who do not have email or might not be comfortable with getting information online.
HELPING OTHERS
Please consider helping to meet the needs of others during this time. A few ideas include checking on elderly neighbors, picking up food and supplies for those with limited mobility, or even watching your friends’ children who might be home from school.
GIVING
Please remember the importance of financial giving. Our ministries are still happening, and we are continuing to help meet needs within our church family. We have several easy ways to give: you can give online (this may be a good time for you to set up recurring giving), mail, by text, or stop by the church office during the week (Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM-4:00 PM).
Finally, please continue to join us in prayer for our world, government officials, healthcare providers, our community and all those who are affected by this situation.
Blessings,
Pastor Joe and Debbie Pickens
