You Are Covered

Take time to read Psalm 91.
Psalm 91:1-4

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You’re in Good Hands with ____________________.

Like a Good Neighbor, _______________ is there.

You probably know what goes in each blank. Insurance companies exist to cover us and our belongings when something goes wrong. We do not need insurance when things are good! But if something happens to our car or to our home, we are quick to call our agent and check our policy.

However, every insurance policy has exclusions – situations that the policy doesn’t cover. Recently, we found out our travel insurance is null and void in the event of a pandemic! Who would have thought a few months ago we would run into that!

Psalm 91 says that God will cover us with His feathers, and under His wings we will find refuge. As believers, GOD HAS US COVERED! Every word in the bible is God-breathed and God-inspired. The choice of the word feathers here is no exception. Here are a few of the unique qualities of a feather…they provide warmth when it is cold and help to cool a bird when it is warm. Feathers protect from the elements; many are water resistant. Like the mother bird, God offers us His protection and care. Also, many baby birds instinctively know to stay near mom. And just like a baby bird must snuggle close to its mom to reap the benefits of her wings, so we must stay close to the Father to know the benefit of His love and protection.

And unlike regular insurance plans, God’s plan has no exclusions! However, if we choose to wander away like baby birds are sometimes prone to do, He is right there to gather us back up. As scripture tells us, He will leave the 99 to go after the 1 that was wandered away! If you want the protection of the Father, stay close to the Father’s heart – “under His wings.” Do not resist His ways or His correction. Our Father knows best and wants to shelter us from the many things that seek to hinder and destroy us.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
